Abraham Lincoln MemorialWorking With Government Workshop

The Working With Government (WWG) workshop is a new pilot course designed to demystify the complexities of the U.S. Government, using the Department of Defense as a practical case study. Our goal is to provide a foundational understanding for individuals looking to work with, in, or for the government, whether for research, doing business, entrepreneurial funding, or career opportunities. We also aim to assist those with existing project ideas in identifying and navigating funding sources or potential customers within the government landscape.

What You'll Learn

This workshop will help you:

  • Gain a foundational understanding of how the U.S. Government operates.
  • Explore opportunities for research and entrepreneurial funding.
  • Discover job or business opportunities within government agencies or with government contractors.
  • Learn to identify and navigate funding avenues for your projects.
  • Understand how to connect with government customers.

Workshop Structure & Dates

  • When: Four-part workshop, held during the Fall and Spring Academic Quarters.
  • Where: Design & Innovation Building, UC San Diego

A Foundational Certification Course

We offer WWG to complement the Innovating for National Security (i4NS) Course. This approach will allow you to build a strong theoretical foundation in WWG, which you can then apply practically in i4NS. Completing WWG and i4NS will lead to a Certificate in Defense Innovation.
